Born into a rich Yoruba heritage, Fola Abatan is a passionate cinematographer hailing from the vibrant city of London. His love for visual storytelling began in photography. In his formative years he quickly found he also had a flair for the moving image. His decision to study Digital Film Production at Ravensbourne University was birthed from the need to deepen his understanding of storytelling and crafting images for the silver screen. There, he was awarded a BA (Hons) and a Creative Talent scholarship with Warner Bros.
Since graduating in 2017, Fola has left an indelible mark on the industry, with his work being revered across the globe. His narrative work has reached many international film festivals, his music videos have amassed millions of views and his commercial work has led campaigns for several high end brands.
Fola is dedicated to creating visual narratives that resonate with audiences on a profound level. His ability to craft stories with an artistic eye and a deep appreciation for subtext, mixed with his technical prowess, allow him to capture aesthetically pleasing frames that evoke thought provoking engagement from his audience. He finds his true calling behind the lens.
Every frame captured is a canvas upon which emotion, narratives, and culture converge. His work is characterised by meticulous attention to detail. Lighting, composition, and visual aesthetics are all carefully orchestrated to evoke the intended mood and narrative.
